Does Our Love Reach?

"Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other (1 Thess. 1:9).

Have you ever tried for something that was just out of your reach? I could be talking about many things with that question, but today I want to talk about love. "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it," is a philosophical thought experiment that raises a question regarding observation pitted against the knowledge of reality. Lets try this thought experiment with love. If our love does not reach it's target, is it love at all? The apostle Paul gives us a comprehensive definition of love. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but always rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" (1 Cor.13:4-8a). We cannot read those verses too many times! When we examine what is engendered in each quality of love mentioned, we ought to come to a conclusion of what real love is all about. This type of love will reach it's target all the time. Love needs to bring these qualities with it. When it does, it becomes more than just a word....It becomes an active goodwill. Our love will reach....

Have a wonderful day....Let the light of the Lord shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
