Simple Yet Oh So Important

"You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding" (Prov.8:5).

We may get so bent on gaining insight into the more complicated things in life, that we forget those important things that might just seem too mundane. Perhaps one of the reasons that we have problems with those difficult things is that we have lost sight of the simple. You may have followed the thread of the past few devotionals and remember that they were about love, joy, faith, hope, and peace. These are such simple and basic words, but they carry with them the essence of the Christian life itself. "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (Jn.10:10). Love, joy, faith, hope, and peace are the essentials in the art of the abundant life that Jesus has promised to us. Is it possible that they are in short supply in the lives of many Christians? Are many are missing out on life to the full because of a lack of these basics? I have two suggestions, neither mysterious, on how to keep focused on these simple yet important things. "Humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you" (Jas.1:21). We must be in constant touch with God's Word....God's implanted Word! "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful" (Col.4:2). To restore these simple yet important elements back into our lives, a rich and full prayer life is necessary. When we find our spiritual lives slumping, lets get back to the elements of love, joy, faith, hope, and peace. We do just that through being in God's Word and praying....A lot! Pretty simple, huh?

Have a great day.... Go about doing good..... Love mark Phil.4:11
