How To Hug

"Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other" (1 Thess.4:9).

I will age my self with this little joke. Many years ago in a school library a young man looked around and quickly grabbed a book off the shelf entitled, How To Hug. Imagine his chagrin when he found out that he had picked out the 7th volume of the Encyclodedia Britannica. At one time, this was a cute joke....In today's verse, we find out that the members of the church at Thessalonica had learned how to hug....That is, how to love...The apostle Paul told them that they had learned from the wellspring of all love, God Himself. Paul writes more about this love in his letter to the church at Rome. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this; While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (5:8). By way of example, God sent his Son into a sinful world, fully knowing His fate. God teaches us how to love one another.... Jesus then teaches us the great lesson of love. "This is how we know what love is: Jesus laid down his life for us" (1 Jn.3:16). Jesus' and God's kind of love are clearly taught two verses later. "Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth" (V 18). If we find that our love is not growing stronger, we must look to Jesus and the Father and be willing to learn how to love. When we take this initiative, our love will manifest itself in an active goodwill to others and a real and true heartfelt affection will follow...And that's How To Hug....

Have a wonderful day.....RAKs all around! Love mark Phil.4:11
