The Joy of Service

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'" (Acts 20:35).

As we continue on our quest for joy, we come to another well documented source. That source is found in the wellspring of Christian service. When we remove the veneer that covers so many things we should find this basic statement to be true....Christian service produces joy. This service can come in all sizes, shapes and forms, but will not always just fall conveniently into our laps. We must make an overt effort to find areas of service that fits us. One of the true joys that I found as a sports coach was seeing the improvement and success of my athletes. To know that I had a part in that brought real and tangible joy. We can all become those spiritual coaches to others in our service to them and find that great joy too. The apostle John wrote: "It brought me great joy to have some brothers come and tell me about your faithfulness to the truth and how you continue to walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to know that my children are walking in the truth" (2Jn.3-4). John obviously believed that this was one of the highest forms of joy. There is a real and wonderful joy in seeing the spiritual progress of others and knowing that we may have played a small part. I am sure that Jesus was gratified when he saw people recognizing the superiority of giving over receiving....The more blessed nature of serving over that of being served....Look for opportunities to get off the bench and into the game..Playing is so much more fun than watching....

Have a wonderful day...Go about doing good....Its fun..... Love mark Phil.4:11
