Who Will Do It?

"Like a bad tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in times of trouble" (Prov.25:19).

Just how functional are we if we have a really bad toothache or a foot that we can't walk on? I believe that if the Lord is going to be faithful to us that we need to meet certain criteria also. The apostle Paul equates the love of a husband for his wife this way: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain, wrinkle, or any blemish, but holy and blameless" (Eph.5:25) As Jesus loved the church, we must also. For us that means being faithful to it. It means attending as often as we can. It means getting involved in the activities of the church. It means not neglecting the opportunities to work and grow together in God's Word. It means being genuinely concerned with the welfare of our brothers, both physically and spiritually. Do we need to be more faithful to the church? Perhaps this next question is more to the point. If everyone were as faithful as I am, what kind of church would this be? Would there be anyone here except for Sunday morning worship? Would there be fresh and seasonal bulletin boards? Would the building be clean and presentable. Would there be people at the ready to teach all of our classes? Would our members be growing spiritually? Would the church exist at all? The writer of Proverbs sums it up well...."One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys" (18:9). Who will do it? How about me!

Have a great day...Through Him we can make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
