The Art Of Kindness

"and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love" (2 Pet.1:7).

Kindness is such a lovely word which evokes several qualities. It is a sympathetic type of sweetness and temper that puts others at ease. It certainly describes a virtue that makes others feel at ease when they are with you as they know that you will be kind and gentle. It is a lovely word for a lovely virtue or grace. In the Psalms, the word for kindness is mostly translated as good. When it talks about God being good, it is not a commentary on His moral goodness, but rather to His kindness. This kindness is expressed in His wonderful mercy. I believe that it is the kindness of God that motivates the Psalmist to write Psalm 100. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon it. The Psalm ought to move us to worship our Lord of kindness. "For the Lord is good (kind) and his love endures forever" (V 5). This Psalm is a clarion call for us to come to the Lord with praise, joy, and thanksgiving. The writers of the Old Testament saw the Lord's kindness expressed. If we read Psalm 65:9-13, we will find the Lord's kindness expressed in nature. In other places it is shown in the instructions of His Word. It is expressed in special ways to certain people, like those who are poor or afflicted. It is expressed to all those who hope and trust in Him and to those who love Him. God sets a wonderful example for us in His magnificent kindness. We ought to exhibit that same kindness in our everyday lives...We will be kind again tomorrow....

Have a wonderful day....Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
