Like Father Like Son

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" (Eph.4:32).

In my earlier days of teaching, young boys often bragged about their dads. I particularly remember a 12 year old boy in AR who's father drove heavy equipment. "My dad drives a 'dozer, and that's what I'm going to do," said Jimmy. Our Father in heaven has set a high bar for us in the arena of kindness. Today's verse tells us about forgiveness. The virtue of kindness should constrain us to be a forgiving people. "In order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness in Christ Jesus" (Eph.2:7). His great kindness is shown to us though his unsurpassing mercy and grace. We have that ability to show through God's example, mercy toward one another. If we truly desire to be like our Father in heaven, we must emulate His great kindness. "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful" (Lk.6:35-36). Christian kindness is a lovely thing...Its loveliness stems from the fact that Christian kindness means even more than treating others the way we want to be treated. It means treating others the way in which God treats us. Wanting to be like dad.....Like Father, like son....

Have a great day... Christians should make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
