A Fitting Memorial

"In the future, when your children ask you, 'What do these stones mean?' Tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord.....The stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever." (Josh. 4:6-7).

Joshua wanted the people to never forget how God miraculously brought them across the Jordan, so he set up a permanent memorial. Though I never served in the military, I have a reverential respect for those who have. When we go the Washington DC, I always find the names of two men from my hometown on the wall of the Vietnam Memorial...It always makes me cry. We all know young men or women who are presently serving and have friends or relatives who have given their lives. Today is their Memorial....Take time to remember them. As persons of faith, we should also remember the sacrifice that God made for us in the sending of Jesus. Each Lord's Day. as we gather about the Communion Table, it is a Memorial Day of faith for us. Jesus gave up his life as a substitute for us...Because of that sacrifice, our sins are forgiven and no longer remembered. Because of that sacrifice, we have the hope of eternal life...Memorials are only good if we treat them with the proper respect they deserve. Today is Memorial Day. Lets remember what we are supposed to remember..Our Lord makes each day of our lives special...Lets remember Him every day...

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
