About Being Faithful

"If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the Lord your God will keep his covenant with you.....He will love you and bless you" (Deut.7:12-13).

There is a thread of faithfulness and faithlessness that runs throughout Israel's history in the Bible. There are wonderful stories of heroism, faith and goodness that are tempered by acts of evil, ignorance, and idolatry. As we see from today's verses, God desires to bless his people. There is a caveat however, and it is based upon man's obedience. Faithfulness is certainly a lofty goal and pursuit for man, especially considering our track record. Hearts that yearn to go their own way instead of God's is at the forefront. I think that man really tries to be God's obedient servants, but the pull of the world is a strong and powerful one. God made some great promises to the people in this section of Deuteronomy. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon Deut.7:12-15. When we pay attention to God's Words and obey them faithfully, we remain within the borders of God's unfailing love. It is a love that is backed up by His promises. Peace permeates a life that is able to escape from the oppression of the world with all it's restrictions. In that peace, we can enjoy the calm of God's blessed kingdom, while escaping from the despair and darkness of the world. To enjoy all of these things, we must choose to be faithful to our first love...When we weigh the pros and cons, the decision ought to be an easy one...Lets all make that good choice....

Have a wonderful day...We can make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
