The Boast

"'Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches., but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,' declares the Lord" (Jer.9:23-24).

When we go on a job interview, we expect the interviewer to explain what is required of us to fill the position. If we have done our homework, we ought to already know, but we will expect it nonetheless. Our job is to convince the interviewer, that we are the person to fill those requirements. We do not go on a "boast-fest", but attempt to give information about our qualifications for the job. Today's verses, which would be good ones to meditate upon, are God's words to Jeremiah about His expectations of us. God wants man to know as much about His nature as possible. As a matter of fact, we actually owe it to ourselves to learn as much about God as possible. God is not interested in people who want to boast about their abilities. We all know what its like to be around a braggart... We must be careful, lest we fall into the trap of bragging ourselves, just in self-defense. It does appear that God does want us to boast however, just not about things like wisdom, strength or riches. He wants us to boast about our knowledge of Him. He wants us to boast that we serve the true and living God of kindness, justice and righteousness on earth. When we do this, He is pleased with us...."for in these I delight." With this in mind, we will pass the interview with flying colors, and get the job. A search for knowledge concerning our God may be a life-long one, but it is worth every minute...We will be able to stand before Him one day, knowing that the search was not in vain, but rather our greatest accomplishment...We'll be hired....

Have a great day....Do good, give God the credit.... Love mark Phil.4:11
