I Made a Bad Choice - Now What?

"Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining for what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Phil.3:13-14).

More than likely we will all make some poor choices in our lives. The big question that we must ask is this: What can be done to avoid making matters even worse? I read Neil Armstrong's book about being a flight commander. They were given check lists to follow in case something went wrong. The check lists would include as many scenarios as possible, and the ways to correct what had gone wrong. First on our checklist ought to be about prevention. We ought to make sure that we can see the mistakes that others make and learn from them. When Abraham and his nephew Lot separated, Lot made a bad choice. What saved Lot was that he took heed and fled. After Peter denied Jesus three times, he could have slunk into anonymity. Instead he chose to repent and serve. He then became a champion for the cause of Christ. These are men from whom we can learn about overcoming poor choices. We must not wallow in a poor choice and feel sorry for ourselves. We must also not continue to remain in that choice because of because of our pride. In today's verse, the apostle Paul gives us a microcosm of proper behavior.... "Forgetting what is behind and straining for what is ahead....." We can do what Paul did...accept and live on.... Decide to serve the Lord with the time we have left in this life. Even after a bad choice, we can do more than just salvage a situation. We can learn from it, change our behavior, and determine to live for the Lord with the absolute best of our ability. When we do it right, we can make past bad choices into wings instead of anchors....

Have a wonderful day....Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
