Joy and Strength - Perfect Together

"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Neh.8:10).

So....Is he going to write about joy or strength today? Hmmmm. Let me think for a moment. I think that I will write about both. It may seem to be an odd coupling, but lets take a look at the relationship between joy and strength. As Christians, we may spend time in thought about how to gain a greater amount of spiritual strength. Lets take a quick look at what might be the best source upon which it can be built... "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God" (Heb.12:2). From this passage we learn that it was joy that strengthened Jesus and allowed Him to endure the shame and suffering of the cross. The more we look at it, the coupling is not so odd at all. The joy set before us ought to our greatest motivation and strength. Jesus said; "If you love me, keep my commandments" (Jn.14:15). If we just stop to think, isn't it our love for the Lord, and the joy of showing that love for Him, that constrains us to obey? Don't we want to hear those words, "well done my good and faithful servant.... enter into the joy of your master?" (Matt.25:21) There should be nothing that motivates us more powerfully than the prospect of pure and intense joy. It is the vision of this joy that should make us spiritual towers of strength..As we look at these two seemingly diverse attributes, we see that they actually go hand in hand....Perfect together...

Have a great day...Do good, give God the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
