Slow Down

"Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last, just kicking down the cobblestones, looking for fun and feeling groovy" Paul Simon 1966....

For those of you in my generation, this line was from a delightful song entitled, The 59th Street Bridge Song by Simon and Garfunkel. They were from NY and supposedly Paul Simon got the inspiration for writing the words after crossing the Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge which spans the East River from Manhattan to Queens. I got the inspiration for this idea when we crossed that bridge on Thursday morning. We live in a fast paced world, and I guess that Paul Simon felt the same way over 45 years ago. Last night at church, my brother Lee presented a lesson revolving around meditation. Meditating on God, His Word, and His world often gets overlooked as we move from one venue to another in life. We need to listen to God speaking through His Word and telling us to.......slow down, you move too fast.....We need to take some time out of our day to allow our minds to dwell on things of greater importance. "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things" (Phil.4:8). Part of enjoying the good things in life is taking the time to watch it's flowers growing. If you want the negatives of life, turn on the evening news...If its the positives of life we desire, turn on to God's recipe for a more peaceful and tranquil life. We can find the true blessings of life when we take refuge in the Lord. The "blessed man" of the first Psalm got that way by "finding delight in the law of the Lord," and he meditated on it day and night. As a result, he became "like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither." Lets slow down a bit, and enjoy life more....

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
