Spiritual Growth - And The Blessings

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God" (Rom.5:1-2).

In the last two devotionals I've written about spiritual growth being a choice, and the assists we get from the Lord in that growth. To complete the thought, I want to look at the perks which accompany our spiritual growth. In today's verse, the apostle Paul reveals two of these blessings to us.....peace with God.....a rejoicing in hope.... Peter gives us an interesting perspective of how this happens in 2 Pet.3:18. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." Peter gives us even more..."For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love." As we increase in these virtues, spiritual growth takes place and we are certainly blessed. In nature there are certain relationships between two very different species of animals that are classified as symbiotic.....In a symbiotic relationship, both animals are benefited. The rhino/tickbird and the shark/remora are examples. With hard work and assists from God, we are able to grow spiritually. As this growth is happening, the wonderful virtues that Peter enumerates are accomplished, almost in a symbiotic fashion. I would be remiss if I did not mention the ultimate blessing of spiritual growth..."For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Pet.1:11). The final piece to life's puzzle is in living ever after with Him. With spiritual growth comes blessings now and later...

Have a wonderful day....Let His light shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
