Spiritual Growth - The Goal

"A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher"

Most of us are goal oriented people. Setting goals, and striving toward them is an important part of successful living. When we take a look at the big picture of spirituality, our goal should be crystal clear. BE LIKE JESUS! In today's verse, I see a clear view about discipleship. Its pretty simple, isn't it...Jesus is the teacher, and if we become fully trained, we'll be like Him. "And we, who with veiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit" (2 Cor.3:18). Because it is God's desire that we be conformed into the image of His Son, as we are transformed, it is into the image of Christ. To get to our goal of Christ-likeness, we must grow in grace and knowledge. In doing this we should have a renewal of behavior to conform to this example that Jesus set before us. "And have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the one who created him" (Col.3:10). As we set our goals for spiritual growth, it should always to be about being Christ-like. Christians certainly ought to be people of character and integrity. We have no example ever set before us of character and integrity than Jesus. As we set our goals toward being like Him, our characters should reflect it in all aspects of our lives. When Peter and John were brought before the Sanhedrin, they witnessed for the Lord. Upon finishing, it was said about them: "these men have been with Jesus." (Acts 4:13). Reaching our goal will require a diligent and sustained effort...It will be a challenge. That's what makes it all worthwhile....Being Christ-like....

Have a great day....Do good, give Him the credit.... Love mark Phil.4:11
