Negativity - Danger Lurking

"But the men who had gone up with him said, 'We cannot attack those people; they are stronger than we are'" (Num.13:31).

Moses had sent our twelve men on a reconnaissance mission to explore Canaan. We usually refer to them as spies. Their job was a comprehensive one....They were to give a report of the land, its produce, and the people who lived there. They came back to Moses with a glowing report of a land that flowed with milk and honey. Ten of them also told about the inhabitants, who they said were too strong to defeat. In the midst of this report, Caleb said: "We should certainly go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it" (V 30). If you read on in chapter thirteen, you will find that their negative attitude discouraged the rest of Israel. The people grumbled and complained, with some of them even wanting to go back to Egypt where they had been enslaved. As a result, many of them died in the wilderness without ever reaching the promised land.... When we allow negative attitudes to creep into our lives, bad things almost always happen. Faith in God shrinks until belief is irreparably compromised. We allow this negativity to permeate us to the point where we stop trying to do what God wants us to do. Another aspect of this negativity is seen in how we affect others. Instead of being the encouragers that we were designed to be, we become the discouragers. We may instill that same negative attitude into the hearts of others. Lastly, one of the greatest dangers in negativity is in our failure to reach the goals that God has set before us. This would be a tragedy of epic proportions. I hate to leave you with this downer, so lets look at Caleb's side tomorrow....

Have a wonderful day... Make a positive difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
