Are You Sure? POSITIVE!

"Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, 'We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it'" (Num.13:30).

Where do positive attitudes start? If we are not the most positive person out there, can we change and be more upbeat about things? I think that positive attitudes begin with the belief that our efforts will be worthwhile. Caleb certainly saw the bigger picture when he said what he did in today's verse. He wasn't about to put any stock in the negative attitude of the other ten spies...."for we can certainly do it." I am reminded of the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem led by the prophet Nehemiah. "So we rebuilt the wall and the whole wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work" (Neh.4:6). Despite intimidation and ridicule by their enemies, the people's attitudes stayed positive and they got the wall built. It would be good to read and meditate upon the first six verses of Neh.4..... Where positive attitudes prevail and are maintained, stuff gets done. Our belief in God is reinforced and that enhances our desire and ability to serve Him...."for the people had a mind to work....." With this upbeat take on things we keep on trying to do what God wants us to do. When we are of a positive nature we become beacons to others as encouragers rather than discouragers. Those who try to bring us down are foiled by our positive attitude, as the Caleb in us comes to the forefront. If we want to grow in the Lord, this positive attitude is necessary and with it God will help us to reach the goals set before us...."Therefore, brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord in not in vain" (1 Cor.15:58). More next week about how to maintain the positive attitude....

Have a wonderful day....Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:1
