Making A Choice To Be Positive

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that our suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Rom.5:3-4).

None of us wants to suffer or face hardship in our lives. It is inevitable that it will take place. How people deal with misfortune often says a lot about the fiber of their character. Some people will throw up their hands in frustration and want to fold up their tents. Others will blame their misfortune on others and some will even lay them at the feet of God. The unique thing about the human psyche is that we have the ability to control it. We may not always be able to control our circumstances, but we are able to control how we react to them. Being positive about things is a choice. Most of you have seen Phil.4:11 at the end of my messages. It is a constant reminder to myself that I should not allow circumstance to change me. The apostle Paul talked about learning to be content no matter what befell him. To make excellent steel, great amounts of heat are applied to temper it. We might look at adversity as just that type of heat, tempering us into excellence. Today's verse tells us that suffering produces perseverance.....perseverance produces character and hope.... I believe that with a proper mind-set we can maintain a positive attitude in all circumstances. This attitude will go a long way in our relationships with others as the view our perseverance. It will be marked by character and hope, and we will become the encouragers. A few years ago I was visiting one of our elderly women in the hospital who has since passed. She got a call from another of our older woman to cheer her up. Within moments, the lady in the hospital was offering words of encouragement to the caller...It said so much to me about her character and attitude, that it is how will end this devotional...

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
