God's Attitude About Acceptance

"For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality, and accepts no bribes" (Deut.10:17).

As we all began our lives and moved from the familiarity of family to people outside, we found out that they were different than us. People were of different races, creeds, social standings. looks and personalities. The key to getting along lied in an ability to accept differences. Churches are made of the same kind of different people we found early in life, and the same rule applies. In today's verse, we find God setting a standard for us about acceptance.... Our God is one who does unequivocally not show partiality. He doesn't care what we look like or the language that we speak. He doesn't care what our parents did for a living or where they came from.... "who shows no partiality, and accepts no bribes." Back in the days that Deuteronomy was written, pagan religions offered sacrifices to their gods that were often in the form of bribes in order to gain their favor. Our God is not like that. The apostle Peter wrote: "You call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially" (1 Pet.1:17). When Peter was at the house of the Gentile Cornelius, he said this: "I now realize how true it is that God shows no favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do what is right" (Acts 10:34). Just as God was (and is) accepting of all, He wants us to be one in Him and accept one another. "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God" (Rom.15:7). When we become Christians all of our differences lose their significance. It is our similarities that come to the forefront rather than any difference, as we contemplate our oneness made possible by Jesus Christ. "There is neither Jew or Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal.3:28). Our oneness makes us accept, and our acceptance makes us one.... How cool is that....

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
