Stuff To Avoid

"It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes" (Eccl.7:18).

In life there are often things that must be avoided. If we want to lose a few pounds, certain foods should be avoided. If we have some sort of allergy, the thing that triggers it must be avoided. I think that we all get the picture. If we want as a church to have a strong and vibrant life together, certain things should be avoided to make it possible. "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you" (Jas.1:21). I assume that this means any sort of immoral behavior or evil speech. "Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?" (Pr.6:27-28). Just like the hot coals, immorality can have a devastating effect on our life and should be avoided... There is nothing that will drive a wedge through a fellowship than sin in our midst... Not only immoral things that are done affect our fellowship, but also things that are said... During World War II, there was a famous propaganda poster that showed a large boat being sunk. The caption on the poster said: "Loose Lips, Might Sink Ships." The slogan has been carried forth even outside the military and is taken to mean that one should avoid unguarded talk. When we speak in ways that we shouldn't, it reveals a shallow nature within us. We ought to be using our speech to praise God and not bring down others needlessly. Loose lips can have a detrimental effect on the peace and fellowship within a congregation and should be avoided. Lastly, we need to avoid selfishness because it can be the root of much strife within a fellowship. "For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice" (Jas. 3:16). Peace and harmony exist only where we are looking to the needs of others over our own.... Lets make strides to avoid things that would infect the relationships that we have within the family of God.....

Have a great start to your week.... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
