Even In The Dark

"The raging storms may round us beat, A shelter in the time of storm;
We'll never leave our safe retreat, A shelter in the time of storm.
O Jesus is a rock in a weary land, A weary land, a weary land;
O Jesus is a rock in a weary land, A shelter in the time of storm
."

Vernon J. Charlesworth 1880

I just couldn't resist writing down some of the words to the old gospel song, A Shelter In The Time Of Storm this morning. To all my friends nearby, I hope that you ride out the storm today as the winds could gust over 70 mph... To those of you well off the coast, keep tabs on us during the next day or two... "The Lord said to Abram, 'Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you'" (Gen.12:1). This was God's call to Abram (Abraham) and it was followed by some extraordinary promises. Those not withstanding, it took a great faith for Abraham, at 75, to set out for the land of Canaan. If that would have been one of us, would we have reacted the same way? Do you think we might have weighed all of our possible options in saying to God, "Let me think this over for a while, I'll get back to you." If Abraham had thought his way, he would have never left his comfy home in Ur without being told precisely where he was going and what the Lord had in mind for him... Sometimes one's faith may leave him in the dark. People of faith come to their finest hour when they do what is right despite not knowing all of the details. In many cases we must take that leap of faith and do the best we can do and then leave the rest to Him... If we waited to see the final destination first, we would never leave home. In the world of reality, we do not always have all the information available to us. To be perfectly candid, much of the good work that we do has to be done in the dark. It is not a totally blind faith then is it? Faith tells us to go ahead... Go ahead and act in the mode of truth and goodness, even though we might not see how God will use us to accomplish His purpose. If we wait for optimum conditions before acting, many good deeds would go undone. Doing good and right will always turn out well, even when done in the dark....

Have a great start to your week.... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
