The Most Important Ones

"If it is serving, let him serve; if it teaching let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully" (Rom.12:7-8).

Most of you know that I am a retired school teacher. I learned very quickly about the hierarchy within the school structure. The players that are most visible in the education of the students are the teachers, administrators, and counselors. It did not take me very long to realize that a lot was going on behind the scenes that drove and eased the wheels of production. The secretaries in the office were the ones that kept everything going and the work of the custodial staff was invaluable. It was the smart and efficient teacher that developed a good relationship with them, and appreciated their part in making the school run more smoothly. Today's verse is about the smooth operation of the Lord's church. The church is a body with many members. Not everyone can be the preacher, elder, or deacon, but every member has an important function.... Every member is important and must do their part. The church grows and functions as it should only if each member is doing his or her part within the body. We must find and develop our unique talent(s) and function(s) to get the Lord's work done. For some, it may be in the area of preaching or teaching. For others it may be in the arena of ministering to others by visiting and serving. For those who are blessed with many talents, there is much to be accomplished. There are so many things that must be done for the Lord's work to be carried out, and it takes all kinds of talents and abilities. I know, and am sure of this: We must utilize the gifts that the Lord has entrusted to us in His service. So.... Who are the most important ones? I hope we answered that today....

Have a great start to your week.... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
