Thanksgiving - A Humble Submission To God

"Therefore, as you received Jesus Christ the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving" (Col.2:6-7).

As we celebrate our annual Thanksgiving today, I hope that it is filled with just that..... Thanksgiving..... Thanksgiving is not only about the words we speak, but it is also about the way we live. Today's verse would be a good one to read and meditate upon. As we humble ourselves and submit our lives to Jesus, this verse gives us a clue as to how we should live. The apostle Paul says that as we live under Jesus' Lordship, we ought to literally overflow with thanksgiving to God both for who He is and for what He has done... In thanking God, we affirm His Lordship. When we don't, our hearts and mouths have not confirmed His rightful place... We should not allow an "If only" or "I wish" rationale to dominate our thought processes. If we do, we are implying that we are weary of Jesus being the Lord of our lives, and we can do a better job of running them without Him. Thanksgiving ought to be an act of humble submission to God. He calls us to both remember and respond to His mighty acts of redemption. Acts of redemption that have already happened, are happening now, and those yet to come. In expressing gratitude and thanksgiving, the primary focus should be on what God has accomplished through the work and person of Jesus.... In other words, the primary focus is Jesus! It is my hope in this season that we will not only do what is right, but that we will be in increasing measure, a thankful people... That we will continually speak words of gratitude and thanksgiving to God (first) and then to others....

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving... .. Love mark Phil.4:11
