Are We a Good Example?

"But rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe" (1 Tim.4:12).

Whether we want to or not, we will serve as an example to someone. As Christians, this ought to be an important part of our make-up. Today's verse was written by the apostle Paul to his young protege Timothy. It is an important piece of advice and responsibility for this young man and for us.... The way we talk, act, and love is to be exemplary.. Our faith and moral purity is to be above reproach. Paul even explains why... "show yourself an example to those who believe." A faithful Christian is called to show the world just how a follower of Jesus ought to behave. We are also admonished to serve as an example to believers, especially to those who are young in Christ. Introspection is necessary here... Is my example serving as a bridge or an obstacle to others. It is an awesome responsibility, but who would want it any other way? If our faith and belief is strong, don't we want to promote Jesus' cause to others? "Keep you behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation" (1 Pet.2:12). There are some important questions that we ought to ask ourselves. Is my behavior indicative of a faithful Christian? Am I offering a pure pattern of behavior that is worthy of emulation? Is the strength of my discipleship helping the discipleship of others? We simply cannot escape being an example to others... The choice we must make is about what type of example we will be... Will we be one of the examples worth following?

Have a great day... Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
