Those Spiritual Endorphins

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Eph.2:10).

During intense exercise, the body may produce enzymes called endorphins. In technical terms they are endogenous opiod peptides which are made in response to the pain (no pain no gain) involved in the exercise. A distance runner describes this as a runner's high... In many cases, physical exercise has been shown to improve not only the body, but mood and anxiety. Participating in some regular form of exercise that suits our level of mobility and fitness can be enjoyed. "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both present things and the life to come" (1 Tim.4:10). It appears that the apostle Paul is reminding Timothy (and us) that spiritual activity is critical if we want to reap those spiritual rewards. We might want to term this as our level of spiritual fitness. Today's verse tells us that as God's workmanship, we are prepared to do good works. The Epistle of James has many references to the necessity of our showing our faith by our good works. (2:17, 20, 24, 26)... Turning the faith of our spiritual side into good deeds is a wonderful form of exercise for us to participate in. In our local church, there are probably many opportunities afforded us to be involved in these good works. Physical activity can help both our physical and mental well being, but only spiritual activity will enhance our spiritual well being... I don't know if we can get those endorphins to kick in, but we can get a spiritual high that will help us to be more spiritually fit....

Have a great day... Do good... Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
