Dealing With the Problem of Sin

"For the wages of sin is death" (Rom.6:23).

It is a pretty gloomy thought to read today's verse... Fortunately, I left the most important part of it out. "But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Just as physical death is the separation of the body from the spirit, sin can result in spiritual death, a separation from God. But in His magnificence, God has provided a way out of the spiritual death. With belief in Jesus Christ, the love of sin is addressed. With repentance, the practice of sin is dealt with. When one submits to baptism, the state of sin is changed. Through obedience to these commands, we become the recipients of some wonderful promises. Through baptism we receive the remission of our sins. The guilt associated with them is removed. "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). This wonderful promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit being fulfilled through baptism enables us to deal with the power of sin. Sin, which should separate us from God eternally, no longer has this stranglehold on humanity. When people reach the stage in their lives that they know right from wrong, they are held accountable for their actions. Those who are outside of Christ are dead in this sin and separated from God. They are separated from all the blessings that would come from a union with Him. Let us give praise to the Lord that He has enabled us through His Son to have that union with Him and not be separated... "But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." More about that gift tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day... Do good... Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
