Expected Results and the Gift

"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death that in order that, just as Jesus was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life" (Rom.6:4).

Do you remember doing something wrong when you were a child and knowing that your parents would find out? The sword of Damocles hung over our heads as our parents would surely punish us for our misdeed. The wages of sin should have the expected result of death, but through God's grace there is the gift.... "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (Jn.17:3). John speaks of this as a present possession in the sense that we know God and Jesus in a very special way... This way in which we know them is one in which we have fellowship with them. With this special gift, the wages of sin do not result in what is expected, as we are no longer dead in our sin. "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (Jn.10:10). Jesus puts a wonderful emphasis here on a quality of life. Today's verse lets us know how we enter into this special relationship with the wonderful results. With our sins forgiven we enter into this new relationship with God, having put on Christ. We who were once spiritually dead are made wonderfully alive in Him. The good news of the Gospel promises the hope of the resurrection based on the conviction that Jesus Himself was raised from the dead. Although physical death awaits all of us, the gift takes away the sword of fear. These are all present hopes in which we can fully trust.... The Gift....

Have a great day... Let you light shine for Him... Love mark Phil.4:11
