Hope is Joy - Joy is Hope

"If you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel.... This is the gospel that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven...." (Col.1:23).

Coaches have been known to give motivational speeches to their players in hope that they will perform better. I have both heard and given many of them. How does this sound? "This is the most important game you've ever played because its the only one you will play today." Pretty corny, huh? The truth is that even the most motivating and strengthening visions will lose their power if we don't keep our sight on the goal. When it comes to our spiritual life, a persistent faithfulness to God requires that we keep a constant focus on our joy and hope. The apostle Peter writes this: "Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given to you when Jesus is revealed" (1 Pet.1:13). There are many scriptures that encourage us to keep our focus and sight on the joy and hope of salvation. "We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience, inherit what has been promised" (Heb.6:12). As the apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians, he prioritized this way: "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints" (1:18). If we are to maintain a focus on the hope and joy of the Lord, two things come to mind. First, we ought to be eager to please the Lord and bring glory to Him. Second, we should be anxious to show gratitude to God for offering us His wonderful joy and hope. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon Psalm 100 today.... Hope is joy... Joy is hope...

Have a wonderful day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
