Worth Emulation

"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ" (1 Cor.11:1).

I can remember as a youngster, trying to swing a baseball bat like my favorite player or shoot a basketball like those guys I saw on TV. I am sure that we can all remember trying to emulate someone we viewed as popular, well-spoken or successful. Somewhere along the line, we became our own selves, and the days of imitating others came to an end. The apostle Paul is saying in today's verse that it has really not come to an end as he sets a challenge before us. Peter echoes this teaching about emulation as it deals with suffering... "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps" (1 Pet.2:21). Both apostles are telling us that the days of emulation are not over. They are telling us that when it comes to the truly important aspects of life, that being our spiritual life, our imitating must become extremely selective. Christ is the one to be emulated! He is to be our example when it comes to looking out for one another (Phil.2:20-23).... He is to be our example when it involves how we are to love one another. (Eph.5:1-2).... Lastly, He is to be the one we should emulate when we are trying to please and serve one another. (Rom.15:1-3)..... These last three scriptures would be good ones for us to read and meditate upon today. When it comes to Christian behavior, Jesus is beyond a shadow of a doubt, the one who's example we ought to be following. He is worth emulation....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
