Being The Emulatee

"Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of wrong doing, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits" (1 Pet.2:12).

I don't think there's any such word as emulatee, but I'm sure that you get the point. The apostle Peter lets us know in today's verse that we are to be an example to those people in the world. I darkened the word see in the verse for a reason. The Greek word translated see actually refers to a careful watching over a period of time... In other words, not just an occasional good deed here or there, but a true and constant walk of good. A believer's good life is to be an influence on those that are outside of Jesus. There is much more to our good example than that however... "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity" (1 Tim.1:12). Though Timothy was young, the apostle Paul reminds him that he is to be an example to those believers he is associating with. Just look at the life that he is being told to live as that example. We are to strive to be a model for all Christians, wherever we might find ourselves. Lastly, there's the kids... An adult Christian should always be mindful that the kids are watching.... Among the traits that we must exude are joy and happiness. They must see that grownups are joyful and happy with their Christian life. Of course we must be morally good, but they probably don't see us interacting on an everyday basis. They can readily see whether or not we are pleased with our lives as Christians however! If they do not find us as satisfactory models, they will turn elsewhere... Someone is always watching, so let me use that incorrect word again. Lets all strive to be the emulatee....

Have a wonderful day... Let His light shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
