The Conviction

- "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.... He will tell you what is yet to come" (Jn.16:13).

There was a day when a man's word was his bond. It should still be this way, but because of extenuating circumstances, things like contracts are always written out and often witnessed. The message of the apostles after the death and resurrection of Jesus, would be the most convicting agent to bring people into belief. Because it was so important, the apostles would need a lot of help. As we see in today's verse, they got that help in a most miraculous way.... "But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth." The message that the apostles would be proclaiming would be a convicting one. The source of that conviction could not be entrusted to mere mortal men speaking on their own. The Holy Spirit would be telling them what to say. To the apostles, the truth came by revelation. We no longer have the physical presence of the apostles to convict us into all truth, but their powerful influence still remains. The Holy Spirit, once and for all, revealed the truth of the gospel through the apostles. To this end, the Holy Spirit continues to weave its truth to all generations through the Word which He inspired... The Holy Spirit had a unique job to do in the first century. It was to guide the apostles into all truth. That unique task, peculiar to the apostles, though it does not directly guide us, convicts us nonetheless. That conviction comes through the Words of Truth found in our New Testaments. Those words that were inspired by the Holy Spirit. I love the wonder of God's divine plan.... Don't you?

Have a great day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
