Stepping on the Hope Pedal

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope" (Rom.15:4).

Back in my younger days, I owned a couple of cars that we have come to call muscle cars... When I stepped on the accelerator pedal of my 1965 GTO, it would increase in speed at a very rapid rate. Of course, it also burned a leaded, high octane fuel. We can step on the pedal of hope in our lives, and we have a high octane helper as we read in today's verse. The Scriptures are intended to produce hope in our lives, and produce it in increasing amounts. The encouragement that we get from God's Word should fuel us on to this increased hope. "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade" (1 Pet.1:3-4). Just as our faith comes by the Word of God, so does our hope... This hope will come in ever increasing amounts as we set our focus on the grace to come when Jesus returns. "Set your hope fully on the grace given to you when Jesus Christ is revealed" (1 Pet.1:13). This wonderful grace that will be brought to us when he comes will be manifested on our resurrection from the dead, when our glory will be revealed together with that of Christ's... We should think often of that new city in which we will reside. It is fully equipped with access to the water of life and the tree of life, as we will be in the presence of God. As we read and meditate upon the Word of God, we can rest on an ever-increasing hope that is fueled through that meditation. Lets all put the pedal to the metal....

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
