Staying In Love - With God

"But you, beloved, building yourself up on the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life" (Jude 21).

I have been known to make some weird comparisons to get a point across, so please bear with me... I am going to compare our love for God to breathing. Do you remember when you were a kid and you had a contest with someone to see who could hold their breath longer. It always ended the same.... With a gasp... Have any of you ever had the wind knocked out of you? Its simply a terrible feeling. Breathing is necessary for us to stay alive and well, first and foremost. On a spiritual level, a stable attitude about our love for God is a necessity. When we give it some thought, its almost embarrassing to think of the things that cause our love for God to wane. We can almost understand our focus getting blurred during times of hardship, stress, or tragedy. During these times, we must re-double our efforts to stay close. The interesting phenomena is this... Often we have a tendency to let our love diminish during the really good times. When all is going well, many attribute it to their own efforts. As long as everything is going along smoothly, many get comfortable "without Him." The single greatest thing that can get us back where we should be is to recognize that God's love for us does not waver or diminish. He loves us the same on our best days and our worst days. "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast..." (Heb.11:19). The anchor is symbol of security. We ought to be secure in the knowledge that our constant need for God's love should be reflected in the constancy of our love for Him. We need Him like we need to breath... He is our air, and He is always there for us! That air is His love for us, and we need it at all times... Lets stay in love with God....

Have a great day... Do good.... Give HIM the glory.. Love mark Phil.4:11
