It My Be Hard

"Its supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it! The hard is what makes it great!" Jimmy Dugan from A League Of Their Own 1992

Jimmy Dugan was an ex-major league baseball player in the 1992 movie, A League of Their Own. When his star player was about to quit, saying, "it just got too hard", he used the line above. God did not promise us a life of ease, free from hardship, pain, calamity, or trial. He did call us to perseverance, however. "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything" (Jm.1:4). If we want to grow in the Lord, some sacrifices and choices must be made. Some of these choices may take us out of our comfort zone. The apostle Peter writes: "Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure" (2 Pet.1:10). If we want to smell the roses of a Christian life, the thorns will sometimes give us a jab. In our comfort zones we often find a conundrum. We would like get better, but we resist change, because it may be uncomfortable. The truth is, that if things remain the same, we cannot have improvement. As I continued to play the game of baseball, there was one certain immutable thing about it that drew me in. It was hard! Oh, you could go through the motions and get by, but that would just make you average... To get really good, takes a lot of hard work. This should also be the lure and challenge of Christianity for all of us too. God isn't interested in average! He wants us to improve each and every day, and that takes effort... Our Effort! In the life of a disciple, there is no such thing as unintentional growth... Spiritual growth always happens as a result of a deliberate decision on our part. It may also be made more difficult by the thorns of life, but God provides us with the way to get through them. When we think that things are getting hard just think... Its supposed to be hard.... If it wasn't hard, everyone would be doing it... The hard is what makes it great....

Have a wonderful day.. Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
