Communion - A Private Time

"And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you: do this in remembrance of me'..... For whenever you eat this bead or drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes" (1 (Cor.11:24, 26).

The Lord's Supper (Communion) should be the most private and reflective time of our worship service to God. It should also be the most reverent. Reading passages from Psalm 22 or Isaiah 53 would certainly be appropriate at this time. It is a reflective time in which we take a serious look at our spiritual condition. "A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup...." (11:28). We musk ask ourselves if we have been living in such a way as to show an appreciation for His great sacrifice. Have we accepted His grace? Are we living our lives for the one who died for us? The death of Jesus means life for us. When we gather about the Lord's Table on His day. we should experience a very private time between us and the Lord. A reflective time in which we dwell upon Jesus' death and its meaning in our life. It is a time when we can look both backward and forward... Backward to what He did for us and forward to the proclamation made in today's verse... We believe and trust in our redemption through Him, and are anticipatory of His return. The Great Supper should bring us closer to Jesus and to one another. It is a wonderful time to reinforce our oneness in Christ's body. It is a wonderful spiritual manifestation of our worship. It is a wellspring of fantastic fellowship, filled with great blessings. A time with each other, yet a most private time with the Lord....

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
