Careful With Words

"For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matt.12:34).

There is nothing that will get us in trouble faster than a few poorly chosen words. Words can be like the acids that we use in a science lab. Acids can be put to good use, but we must be very careful in handling them. All science teachers have a story or two about a lab activity gone awry because someone used an acid carelessly. Poorly chosen words can have that same effect. "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Prov.15:1). If you have had a problem recently with some ill-chosen words, it would do you good to read and meditate upon Prov.15:1 to 5.... It goes on to say; "The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly" (V 2). Like those acids, words have the power to do good or evil...To turn away anger or to stir it up... To use one's knowledge wisely, or to spew out foolishness... Since they are "just words," how are they able to have such a great influence? Today's verse is certainly a big part of the answer. The words are not merely vibrations produced by the larynx... The words we speak are reflections of our hearts. People believe, and rightly so, that words reveal character. Poorly chosen words uttered at the wrong time can destroy even the best of friendships. "The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit" (V 4). Lets be sure to use our brain before we use our tongue. It is better to say nothing than to utter something that we will be sorry for.. Some wise ways to use our words tomorrow...

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
