Put In A Good Word

"But he who holds his tongue is wise.... The tongue of the righteous is choice silver.... The lips of the righteous nourish many" ( Prov. 10: 19-21).

The Book of Proverbs sure has many admonitions concerning the words that come from our mouths. You might deduce that this is really important to God... The old adage, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything," can often ring true. In today's verses, I only used the positive parts of each. I guess that the adage got to me.... In using wisely chosen words, sin can often be avoided. Bad choices of words reveal a non-caring heart. While words chosen in righteousness will be of nourishment to others, poorly chosen ones may be poisonous... "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones" (Prov.16:24). When we use our words for good, they are sweet to the soul, things of beauty like golden apples in settings of silver. Well chosen words will make friendships stronger and good friendships have many benefits. Some of the loveliest passages in the Bible are beautiful expressions of love between friends. You might want to read some of these... For example: Paul's love for his protege Timothy (2 Tim.1:1-4), Ruth's love for her mother-in-law Naomi (Ru.1:16-17), Jesus' love for his disciple, John ( Jn.19:25-27), Jonathon's love for his friend David (1 Sam.18:1). The value of good friends can never be underestimated. They are there for each other in good and bad times... Their advice is always to be sought, as it is given in love. We should try with all of our strength to hang on to good friends, and kind well chosen words is a good way. Some final thoughts on good words tomorrow....

Have a great day... Go about saying and doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
