The Role of Peacemaker

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God" (Matt.5:9).

About 700 years before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah wrote that He would be called The Prince of Peace (9:7). When we become Christians, we are to serve that Prince of Peace... "He came and preached peace to you who were far away and to those who were near" (Eph.2:17). Through His death on the cross, Jesus he abolished the enmity that existed and became the great symbol of peace. The Lord Jesus is our one and great hope for peace, so as we see in today's verse, we are to become the peacemakers... The apostle Paul said this: "Live at harmony with one another.... If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone" (Rom.12:16, 18). Jesus set the specifications for us by saying that we have to love even our enemies. He amplified this by telling us to pray for those who might persecute us. Discord can just not produce behavior that is pleasing to the Lord. In the Epistle of James, he tells us to use the wisdom from above to promote peace... "But the wisdom that come from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, and good fruit. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness" (3:17-18). When one contend's for the faith, shouting the loudest does not get our point across. "Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know that they produce quarrels; And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and not resentful" (2 Tim.2:23-24). Mankind is divided about so many things, so we are to be the voices of reason and the agents of a peaceful discourse in our interactions. What greater honor can Jesus bestow upon us than to be called sons of God? Those are the peacemakers...

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
