Overcoming Disappointments

"The seed that fell among the thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches, and pleasures, and they do not mature" (Lk.8:14).

It is easy for us to get disappointed in life. Christians and non-Christians alike are not immune to those disappointments. For a Christian, maturing in the faith is a must. We must neither stagnate or fall backwards if we are to please the Lord. It is clear what Jesus thinks about the lukewarm Christian. (Rev.3:15-16)... In today's verse, we find another way that Christians, especially immature ones, are drawn away. It is easy for a person to get so wrapped up in his or her job, that the Lord finds gets moved to the back seat. The need for recreation often leads people away, and as hobbies become more important, Jesus again takes a lesser position in their life. Worrying about the everyday matters in life and forgetting that Jesus is there for support leads some not to grow. The things I have mentioned are not extraordinary things... They are a part of everyone's life. Sometimes even our old friends try to lure us back into our old way of life and back into the world. How do we combat all this? "But first seek His kingdom and His righteousness" (Matt.6:33). A life in Jesus must be sought first! It must be the priority of life! We need to make it crystal clear by our example, that worries, riches, or pleasures of life are not what we love the most. If we are to be fruitful, we cannot allow those thorns to choke out our path to the Lord. We must try to develop friendships with Christians who are on the same walk with the same goals. We can help one another along the way. A good set of verses to meditate upon today are found in 1Jn.2:15-17.. "The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." We must center our lives around Christ and His work....

Have a great day.. Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
