Godliness - It Starts At Home

"But godliness with contentment is great gain" (1 Tim.6:11).

Many of us have been disappointed or disillusioned by the actions of people that we looked up to. We may have unrealistic expectations about those who make decisions that affect our lives. We can all categorize bosses we have had as good, bad, or mediocre. Because someone rises to a position of responsibility, that doesn't automatically endow them with a halo. No don't get me wrong here, its alright to have an opinion about others, but criticism should always be done through the lens of self-examination... Jesus teaching on this matter is crystal clear... "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" (Matt.7:3). Even within the church, we may become discouraged by the moral lapses of others, but it cannot allow us to become jaded. We should not turn our backs to improper behavior, but we are also not to condemn the person. To the Pharisees and teachers of the law who brought the woman caught in adultery before Him, Jesus said: "If any of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her" (Matt.8:7). Our expectations should be lofty, but not unrealistic. There is plenty of sin to go around. "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" .... "If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His Word has no place in our lives"(1Jn.1:8,10)

Though we may be disappointed, discouraged, or disillusioned by the actions of some around us, this immutable maxim remains: If we want the world to be a better place, it starts with me! If we are searching for a more godly environment, it starts with me! We are to build a better world for ourselves, one deed at a time. Godliness? It starts at home....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
