The Final Price

"Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him" (Jn.14:21).

We have hopefully established over the past three devotionals that there is a cost involved with the free gift of salvation. God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit have paid their part of the cost. We ourselves, in showing the desire to have the gift, must pay the price also. Whenever we purchase something, a most salient question must be asked and then answered. It doesn't matter whether the item is extremely expensive or relatively cheap... "Is it worth the final price?" The gift of salvation is costly! It cost God more than words can describe... It cost Jesus a painful, agonizing, and humiliating death... The Holy Spirit continues to pay the price today, as many reject, disappoint, and grieve Him... It costs each one who receives it a total submission. It costs us giving up what self wants to do and substituting with what Jesus demands that we do as He lays claim to our lives and hearts all the way to eternity... "If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned" (Jn.15:6). The acceptance of God's will is more than just accepting... It is a total commitment to an entire life submission and obedience. There is no small print, but there are strings attached. Jesus must be not only our Savior upon accepting Him, but the Lord of our lives forever. Though it is a gift, costs have been established, and prices have been paid. "Is it worth the final price?" I know what I think, how about you?

Have a wonderful day... Let Him light your way... Love mark Phil.4:11
