Start The Day With A Smoothie

"Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the riches of fare" (Isa.55:2).

A month or so ago, Jane bought one of those Nutrabullets... Its one of those "super-blenders." We now start out each morning with a nutritious smoothie consisting of fruits and veggies... I'm not sure if I feel any better physically, but it has done wonders for my psyche in knowing that the day is starting with some good nutrition... My writing of these morning devotionals has become my morning spiritual smoothie... It gets me to start out each day with a helping of nutritious spiritual food... It got me to cruise through the Bible to find today's delightful verse. It might do us all good to read and meditate upon Isaiah 55:1-3 today. Life offers us a lot of spiritual fluff food... It bombards us with enough spiritual junk food that we may not be getting enough of the nutritious stuff. I am not telling you stop watching "Dancing With The Stars." I am just saying that our lives must have a spiritual balance to them. To go along with the TV shows, sports, or novels there should be a generous helping of prayer, Bible reading, and meditation. "I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full" (Jn.10:10). A balanced diet allows us to see what is going on in the world, but not be dominated by it. "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete" (Jn.15:11). Jesus offers us a life filled with peace, joy, and love. Just like that morning smoothie, it must be imbibed for it to take effect. With generous helpings of the important spiritual nutrients, (don't forget the exercise) our lives will be richer and fuller... "Jane.... Don't forget that flax stuff this morning....."

Have a wonderful day... Make your part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
