Knowing

"No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God" (1 Jn.3:9).

We can have assurance that our God is not a God of confusion. "For God is not a God of disorder, (confusion) but of peace" (1 Cor.14:32). Previously in 1 John, we were taught that anyone who claims that he does not sin calls God a liar. Then he says what he does in today's verse... "No one born of God practices sin." Is this confusing? What John actually means in today's verse is that a Christian does not embrace sin. This present tense (practices sin) implies in the Greek language that the New Testament was written in, a continuous action. In other words, a Christian does not allow him or herself to wallow in sin. It is not that a person will not at some time succumb to a sin, he will just not allow it to dominate his life. John makes the argument here that one who persists in sin shows an outward manifestation of a person of an enslaved will. The Christian has the wonderful security of knowing. The Christian lives with the security of knowing that they belong to Christ! The source of this knowledge is twofold. First is the testimony of God through His divine Word. Second is the holy lives we have learned through our reading and meditation upon this Word. The same words that John uses to get the Christians of the first century on track is applicable to us today. The contrast between Christian lives and worldly lives should bolster one's confidence that they are following the correct path. Not only does God save those who believe, but He allows them to know... To know the true God and His Son Jesus Christ is to have eternal life....

Have a great day.... Do good...Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
