No Tickling

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, and they will turn away from the truth and will turn aside to myths" (2 Tim.4:3-4).

I always get a kick out of reading the words, "to have their ears tickled." Your version may say "itching ears." Are you ticklish? Do you remember getting tickled when you were a child, or tickling your children? I guess its alright for children, but if you are one of those ticklish people, you don't like it as an adult. We would much rather like to laugh after seeing or hearing something funny, than to be tickled... I wrote yesterday about some of the reasons that we should attend church services on a regular basis. May I suggest to you that it is not to get tickled... The apostle Paul warns Timothy about this... Though we may get a spiritual sort of high from singing, praying, and being with other Christians, there is still more. It is my contention that one of the most important reasons for us to attend, is that it is an important part of our Christian service. We get the opportunity to serve God through our acts of devotion. We also get to serve His children, our fellow Christians, by the same means. It doesn't matter whether there are 20 people or 20,000, we still get to offer our service to our God. We still get to encourage and stimulate those around us with our devotion. We and others will always get more out of the service when we come with an attitude and readiness to serve God and others that are there. The old rule that we get more out of something, if we put more into it prevails. Our regular attendance and involvement in worship services is good for everyone. Good for God... Good for others.... Good for ourselves... "Remember the words of our Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'" (Acts 20:35). Lets give until it feels good...

Have a wonderful day... Give 'til it feels good... Love mark Phil.4:11
