What We Believe Matters

"Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully" (2 Jn.8).

As we look around, we can see the things that are important to us. We know what they are, and if we were called to make a list, many of our lists would probably be comparable. In today's verse, John is telling us that we have started on a journey. Today we are at a certain part of that journey, and it is important for us to stay on it. He is telling us that our journey is predicated upon what we believe. What we believe matters! Our journey began when our belief in God's Word led us to obedience. Where we are today is based on those same truths. Oh, we may have read and meditated on the Word quite extensively since our obedience, but the truth of God's Word remains unchangeable. What we believe matters! We have worked hard to get where we are today, and John is pleading with us not to blow it. "Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for." It has cost us a lot to stay on this journey, and the costs don't go away. Jesus said: "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, 'This fellow began to build and was not able to finish'" (Lk.14:28-30). Our salvation can be lost due to faithlessness, compromise and sin. Temptations of the flesh cannot defeat the Christian as long as he or she remains in the truth. We have worked hard to get to this leg of our journey and we want to see it through... We don't want to lose what we have worked for... What we believe matters!

Have a wonderful day.. Do good...Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
