A Bible Musing - The Book Of Ruth

"Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path" (Psa.119:105).

The Bible is the most unique book ever written. It is within itself both a simple and complex book. It consists of prophesies, history, letters, laws, prayers, and songs. It is a story of epic proportions. Within its grand story lies both sin and redemption, intermixed with life and death. When we watch a sporting event on television, there is usually a main announcer with a sidekick. The sidekick is often called the color person. He or she is an expert on the game and attempts to give some additional personal insight into the event. The Bible is interspersed with small stories that add color in the form of inspiration, warmth, or even warning. I find the four short chapters that make up the Book of Ruth to be such a story. You may want to read it over the next few days and see if you agree with me. I would be interested to hear from you if you choose to do this to see what you glean from it... There is nothing particularly overwhelming in the book. There is no finger of God writing on tablets of stone. There are no special miracles, or intrigue about the rise and decline of kings. As a matter of fact, it tells of a time before the people of Israel even had kings. I find a part of its charm in that it is about just regular ordinary people affected by a famine, that leave their home in search of a better life. It is a story about Ruth, a Moabite girl, and her mother-in-law Naomi, a Jewish woman. It speaks about harvest time and the laws of inheritance that were prevalent at the time. If you choose to read the book, you will be drawn in... You will be drawn into a world where God's hand plays a part in the ups and downs that accompany life in a world that is not always certain... See what you think... You may even find a piece of your own life in the book....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
