The Church

"And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be the head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him, who fills everything in every way" (Eph.1:22).

A lot of people say a lot of stuff about the church. There are those that make disparaging remarks about it. There are those that profess that Jesus is okay, but not the church. I'll be the first to say that since the church is made up of people, that mistakes will be made from time to time. This of itself does not even come close to negating the importance of the church. Today's verse, and many others, speak about how important the church is. It is the one that Jesus said that He would build. "and on this rock, I will build my church" (Matt.16:18). The church is made up of saved members. "So in Christ we who are many form one body" (Rom.12:5). Most of the apostle Paul's writings in the Bible are letters to churches, as is the Book of Revelation. The Bible calls the church the following things: "the family of God".... "the temple or dwelling place of God".... "the kingdom of Christ"... "the body of Christ"... The universal church is the body of all believers redeemed by the blood of Christ, who submit to His authority as Lord. If we have the desire to be saved and then nourished by Jesus, we must be in His church. Jesus is the Savior of the body (church) and loves it. He gave Himself up for it and purchased it with His blood. He sanctified and cleansed it with the washing of water by the Word, and nourishes and cherishes it. He even adds those who have been saved to it. In view of Jesus' love for His church, how can we not need it? Some things about the local church next time...

Have a great day... Think big, act small... Love mark Phil.4:11
