Koinonia Perks

"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it" (1 Cor.12:26)

Have you ever stubbed your toe, had a toothache, or hit your finger with a hammer? Though each of these painful experiences happen to a specific part of the body, the whole body hurts with it. We had some wonderful desserts at our Fellowship Meal after services yesterday, and when I had a spoonful of Jane's cherry cobbler, my whole body felt really good. I hope that you remember from Friday that Koinonia is the Greek word for "to share with, fellowship in, and participation." God wanted there to be a church for many reasons, and one of them are about the perks. Today's verse speaks about the care that we are to have for one another, both in good and bad times... We also get to be teachers and encouragers as we "teach admonish one another with all wisdom, and as we sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God" (Col.3:16). Paul also tells us that we get "to serve one another in love" (Gal.5:13). Sometimes I feel like one of those salesmen on TV with some miracle product as I get to say; "But, that's not all!" In this wonderful state of fellowship we get to pray for one another. If someone has a momentary lapse, we have the opportunity to restore them. The apostle Peter tells us "to offer hospitality to one another without grumbling" (! Pet.4:9). When we are frequently in fellowship with each other, these obligations are likely to be met. The great aspect of all these perks are that they are reciprocal. There are times when we may need encouragement to remain faithful, or comfort in a time of hardship. We may need that warm hand of hospitality or a prayer on our behalf... Those Koinonia Perks kick in as we are blessed by one another's faith and comfort. Koinonia is good for everyone... Try it... You'll like it...

Have a great start to your week...Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
