Another Shot At Joy

"Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints>" (Phm.7).

Part of the social networking that bugs me is the lack of fellowship. A person will be with someone they want to be with, and instead of focusing on that person, they are busy networking with 5 others. I would feel slighted if that one person were me... In the old days, social networking was done by writing letters... "I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy might be complete" (2 Jn.12). The apostle John would have preferred a personal interaction to a letter. I believe that joy comes from personal interaction of Christians. Paul found it by witnessing love and fellowship in Philemon in today's verse. He also found it when he heard of the Corinthians ardent concern and longing for him in 2 Cor.7:7.... So, are we all developing the kind of Christian fellowship that adds to our joy? I hope that we are not missing out on this. One more shot at true joy comes from our Christian service. There are numerous examples of the unbridled joy that Christians found when others were converted to the Lord. Wow! More fellowshipping! Paul also found great joy as he witnessed the spiritual progress of others. John found what was for him the highest form of joy as he wrote; "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth" (3 Jn.4). In doing good for others, we are carrying out the Lord's wishes for us. As we find a niche or two in which we can be of service to others, whether it involves time, energy, money or teaching, we will get to experience the unexplainable joy of service. The wonderful joy of the Lord is wide open to all who would receive. Remember the words of Nehemiah.... "The joy of the Lord is your strength" (Neh.8:10)

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
