Lock The Back Door Too

"Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your father's sent me to you,' and they ask me. 'what is His name?' Then what shall I tell them?"...... "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'the Lord did not appear to you?' ..... "Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past or since you have spoken to you servant. I am slow of speech and tongue" (Ex.3:13, 4:1, 4:10).

As a school teacher for many years, I heard all the excuses possible as to why a student did not have his or her homework. I am sure here in the computer age, that there are even more. I always thought that I would write a book about my experiences, and those precious anecdotes would be priceless. God has appeared to Moses in a burning bush in which the fire did not consume the bush... He had Moses throw his staff on the ground and it became a snake, and had him pick it up by the tail and it have it turn back into the staff. Through all this, as we read in today's verses, Moses turned into one of my excuse-making students... "The dog ate it.... Mom washed it.... My printer crashed.... They won't listen to me.... I don't speak very clearly...." God had a tremendous task for Moses to accomplish, and the excuse- making just would not suffice. The, "OK, I'll give it a try," would not be nearly enough either. Moses would have to go all in if he was to be a vessel for the Lord... Hmmmmmm. How does our life stack up to Moses'? Jesus tells us that we are either with Him or against Him. None of that wishy/washy stuff. No exceptions, excuses, qualifications, conditions, or I'll take a crack at it stuff... If we are to be of use to the Lord as His servants, we've got to lock the back door too. We cannot put up a good and brave front and then go sneaking out the backdoor as soon as it gets a bit tough. There is an old saying about not putting all of our eggs into one basket out there, but when it comes to our service to God, they've all got to be in that basket. As the Lord gave Moses miraculous signs to confirm Himself, He gives us the inspired Word for authenticity... Our relationship with the Lord is not some lab experiment in a science class where we will try various things to see if they will work. Christianity is not something to "take a crack at or try our hand at...." Lets make sure that we confirm our choice with both words and deeds... More tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day... Do Good, Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
